Happy moments this week:

Another day brings:

a new shopping hangout...





 where I find time to write blog posts...



which leaves me free time to practice for my script writing class...



and a moment to notice the sunset streaming in through the kitchen window...

 leaving me rejuvenated so I don't mind making broccoli soup for my family...



while leaving time to drink homemade Kahlua while snuggling on the couch with my love.

Kindness [One Little Word 2014]

My word for the new year: Kindness.

I mean, the world could use some kindness. Always.

But really, this word picked me. Because, I have noticed a lack of kindness in myself lately.

Well, saying I lack kindness may be strong. But I have been behaving with less kindness as I get older.

I used to see the good in people. But lately I seem to focus on the bad. And I complain too much.

I'm crankier and I care less about what others think. And I don't like what I see in the mirror.

I don't take the time for the little things that can make others smile. And I don't like the way this makes my heart feel.

So, I'm trying to rekindle the kindness within me.

And to help me remember to act with kindness, I'm going to take Ali Edwards One Little Word class. The 2013 version. Because I enrolled in the class last year, but never entered the classroom. Not once. But I will this year. Starting today.

The Weekly Capture

Made an Ikea run on Saturday. And apparently Mark felt a little sassy during his power tool photo shoot. We bought Mark a desk so he has his own space, right across from my desk. So we can make googly love eyes at each other. Cause that's what we do when we have a day off together.

Check out the thighs on this kiddo. Serious rolls are happening. It's amazing how much she changes in a week or two. And we seriously appreciate every moment we get to spend with Tater. We took the kids out dinner at Fudruckers and then babysat for a few hours while her parents went to the movies. She watched the Grammy's and danced and sang and clapped.

Spent a few hours working on some blog posts and sipping on my new drink of choice. A Valencia Orange Refresher. Yum.

Kids picked Anchorman 2 for the January family movie. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

We also went out on date night with friends. Ate at Oregano's and went to see Her. Very interesting movie.

Kitchen Inspiration

Some inspiration for my kitchen. We rent, so I can't do anything too drastic. But I want to add some oomph. I have a red kitchen aid mixer that started as the inspiration piece, then added a few pieces in turquoise for the pop. Now I thinking I may want to paint the kitchen chairs and add a very small island.
