Book Love
photo from the Salt Lake City Public Library. April 2013. by me.
I am embarrassed to admit that I've been one of those people holding out on reading e-books.
I've had an I-pad for years, it's a first generation. But I have never even considered going electronic with books.
I'm one of those people. The ones that like to feel the weight of a book in their hands. To feel the paper as you turn the pages. To see them lined up and color coordinated on the bookshelf.
That's all over now. On my last plane trip, I had so many books packed my carry on bag weighed a ton. So while on vacation, I downloaded my first book and then I only had to pack the I-pad for the plane.
Kinda nifty.
Then the other day I saw an Instagram post that mentioned a book being on sale on Amazon. So I bought it. For a $1.99. And it was available to read immediately. No drive to the local bookstore (sorry B&N, but I still love you).
Again, kinda nifty.
As I was reading this new book, I discovered that I could highlight passages in the book, in several color choices. What?
Holy Batman, that is truly nifty!
I'm smitten.
And in case you were wondering, those first 2 books were Defending Jacob by William Landay and How to Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon.
First one was OK. Liked the 2nd one, but it's a pretty quick read at 160 pages. Glad I paid that sale price.
And how about you? Do you prefer paper or electronic? And any suggestions for what to download next?

Friday Wrap
It's the end of another week.
Time to reflect on the moments and share a few photos from the cell phone.
And linking up with Jeannette at Life Rearranged and Lauren at Lauren Elizabeth.
2. Tater came over for dinner (her momma and daddy actually cooked dinner for us then cleaned the kitchen. Hate me. It's OK. I'm a lucky girl). Then Tater took a bath and I got some naked pics of her. But you just get to see her cute face.
3. Help. Someone let me buy a can of metallic gold spray paint and I went to town. More details to be shared later....
4. Love seeing all my kiddos hanging out together and laughing. They were watching You Tube videos.
5. I know. I shared this one already. But I love it so much I had to share again. Wanna see how I made the collage? All the secrets are found here.
Have a fabulous weekend! And thanks for stopping by!

Currently
wearing: my uniform (comfy pants and a target boyfriend tee with my granny sandals)
drinking: nothing right now, but I predict a watermelon margarita in about 6 hours
starting: painting items gold. Metallic gold spray paint. Oh heavens! Desk legs on the agenda for today.
feeling: happy. It's amazing how much life can change in 30 days. I was in a bad place last month when I posted the last "currently", but it's looking so much better now. Hmmm, maybe I need to remember this for the next time life throws me lemons!
reading: Still working on Defending Jacob. I've been bouncing around from book to book. I think I have developed reader's ADHD.
watching: Oblivion tonight. Hubs bought the DVD. Also have some True Blood and The Bridge to catch up on.
weather: 106 for the high, 75 for the low. Still hot, but at least the night is starting to cool down.
needing: to get ahead of these blog posts. I like to have a couple written ahead of time so they go out at 7am every morning, but this week I've been winging it and posting at random times throughout the day.
listening: to Train. Saw them last night in concert and had the best time. Blanket on the lawn, cool breeze, and a big ol' sing along. I'm smitten. And dittos for The Script! Missed out on Gavin DeGraw (finishing his set as we were parking the car. Bummed.)
dreaming: of the next vacation. I can almost envision that walk on the beach, come October......
loving: having two days off with my hubs. And just relaxing. The early part of the week was hectic. Now it's time to just breathe!

Make Something (Project Life)
OK. To be honest, I haven't made something just yet. But I'm getting ready to.
So that counts, right?
Any of you heard of Project Life? If not, come out from your cave and read more here.
It's basically a way to preserve your photos and stories, but in a simplified way, compared to traditional scrapbooking.
I dabbled in Project Life a few years ago, and really loved it. But, as I tend to do, I stopped after a few months. Anyone else have this problem?
I'm ready to start up again.
That means I'm currently in the stage where I'm collecting stuff to use on my Project Life pages. I joined the Studio Calico monthly club where I'll be receiving a kit every month. I believe that is shipping this week, so I should have it in my hands soon. Can't wait!
Today I'm planning on printing some photos from the last few weeks so I get hit the ground running when that kit arrives.
There are lots of free printables available if you don't have the money/patience for a kit to arrive at your home. Here are a few that I've gathered:
1. Just Izzy Design Free Printable Download
2. One Little Story Free Printable Download
3. Finding Nana Free Printable Download
You can find more printables by searching on Pinterest or Google. I have my own board on Pinterest dedicated to Project Life here.
And if you start collecting massive amounts of cards, here is a great way to store them. I'll be searching my local used stores for one.
More info on this storage unit on the Simple Stories blog.
Now go make something today!
